Status Report, April

Sitting…at my dining room table.

Worn out…from Bible study this morning. Does teaching exhaust anyone else? I wonder how real teachers do it all day long, you know, teachers who get paid by schools and colleges. Me, I always need a nap. Or, at the very least, multiple cups of coffee. Sometimes all of the above.

Wondering…if I can drum out a post in the thirty minutes I have before car line. Not that status reporting counts as a post so much but you’d be surprised just how obsessive my inner editor can be.

Enjoying…the beautiful sunshine after the last few days of gray dreariness. I think there is rain forecasted for the evening, and just in time for my son’s soccer game, but of course.

Wrapping up…not just my sons’ soccer season with only three games left to go but also my tenure as a soccer mom. I can’t believe that part of my life will be over. Basketball too. What a run. Crazy.

Disbelieving…my son will be graduating in a few short weeks and leaving home in August. How did he get so grown up? I’m so proud of him. I will miss him so much.

Looking up…“disbelieve” to see if it is a verb. It is.

Loving… Almost as much as

Thankful…for my husband and my sons and the joy of our life together. They are so good to me, blessings wholly unmerited from the Giver of all good things.

Anticipating…The Gospel Coalition’s Women’s Conference in June. So much good teaching to hear and heed! So many virtual friends to meet and greet! I’m excited! Will any of you be there?

Reading…a fiction title that I can’t decide if I like or not. I’m thinking not. But I have the latest Flavia de Luce novel by Alan Bradley waiting in the wings which I am sure that I will enjoy! I’ve also started reading Jared Wilson’s The Storytelling God. Good stuff.

Praying…for my friend with cancer and for her husband and boys. And for others also struggling under heavy burdens and heartbreaking grief. May the Lord show Himself strong and faithful; may He grant mercy and grace.

Writing…this in twenty two minutes flat.

Happy April, friends!

  1. Yay for TGCW 🙂 Hopefully we can talk for longer than ten minutes in the middle of a breakout session this time. 🙂

  2. Yes, teaching is tiring! I always have a nap on Sunday afternoons during the teaching year. So sad I am not going to the women’s conference, mostly because I won’t get to meet you face to face. The crowds I won’t miss, but I know you will have a wonderful time!

  3. I wonder that same thing about teachers who teach all day—all different classes and groups. How do they prepare for it and do it?
Will look forward to seeing you in Orlando.

  4. Love all your posts whether short or long. The weather is beautiful today after such a dreary day yesterday. So glad to see the sunshine.

Sorry I haven’t been over in so long but hope to get over soon. I love and do miss you guys.

Where is the Gospel Coalition Women’s Conference? When is graduation and will it be in the stadium again? I want to get it on the calendar. I can hardly believe how quickly time goes by and then you’ll have two in college.

    Love to all, Sharron
