I didn’t really intend for the blog to go dark for a full week (I bet you wish you had a nickel for every time you’ve read that here in this space). But it is what it is and since today is Thursday I will offer up another list of the Lord’s providences and blessings for which I am grateful this week…
Surprises in the mail (like, real mail). Two bloggy friends have sent me gifts in recent weeks and I am grateful for them, the friends more than the gifts.
Lunch with my husband.
Coffee. Yes and amen.
Sweet, sincere words of encouragement from friends participating in the Bible study I teach.
A haircut. Frivolous it may be but I always feel like a million bucks after a haircut, maybe because they are too few and far between?
Migraine meds that at least ward off the pain however temporarily.
Expository preaching. My pastor is working through Romans in his sermons on Sunday mornings, preaching most recently from Romans 9, passages that are generally avoided or at the very least ignored. It’s intense, to be sure, but I am grateful for a pastor and a church that hold to the merits of preaching verse by verse, book by book.
The blessings of home, family, church, and ministry. My life is small, and ordinary, but full of the grace and goodness of the Lord.
Surely there are many more things for which I am thankful this Thursday but here is at least a taste of the Lord’s goodness to me this week. What about you? What are you thankful for today?
I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart;
I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and exult in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
~ Psalm 9:1-2
