Thankfulness on Thursday

I am joining other bloggers who devote space on their site each Thursday to gratefully acknowledge the Lord’s providences and blessings of the past week. Today I thank the Lord for…

Our home, messy and dirty though it may be.

The messiness and dirtiness that remind me of the full life we live here, me and the five people (and one dog) that I love most in the world.

Texts from my sister that insist that my decorating insecurity is silly and that our home is comfortable and inviting and that’s what matters.

My children and their willingness to vacuum and dust and clean bathrooms and cut grass and weed-eat. They aren’t always eager, mind you, but they generally do what is asked with at least a spirit of compliance if not joy.

Upcoming visits from old friends.

Hydrangeas, my favorite flowers.

The game of basketball and the lessons it teaches my son about effort and persistance and teamwork.

Watching my youngest boy play wearing his oldest brother’s number.

My church.

What are you thankful for today?

I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart;
 I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and exult in you;
 I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
~ Psalm 9:1-2

  1. Good things to be thankful for. I'm thankful for this old house that is manageable. Thankful that we get to go to a conference the next 2 days with John MacArthur, R.C. Sproul and Lawson. Yippee!

  2. It's hydrangea time here, too. Our little lace cap is blooming. I'm also thankful for my church and looking forward to elder plurality soon, God willing.
