Status Report, June

Sitting…at my dining room table

Drinking…coffee, black, out of the new mug my husband and son brought to me from the college orientation they attended this week

Realizing…it’s official: my boy is a college student. He’s, like, all registered for classes and stuff.

Googling…“first apartment checklist”.

Also googling…“how to remove painted wallpaper border”. I want to repaint my dining room. It’s currently red, which is a great color, and it has one of those embossed paintable borders that has, unfortunately, been painted at least twice which I fear will make it difficult to remove. I’m wanting something lighter and less formal in terms of color and I’d like the border removed though I fear it’ll be a bigger job than I am wanting to undertake.

Loving…the cooler temps today. It was 55 degrees out on my porch this morning!

Thanking…the Lord for His gracious providence in what could have been a major technological loss. The Lord is good!

Humbled…by the kind comments I received regarding yesterday’s post. True confessions: I awoke this morning feeling a little embarrassed by the honesty and vulnerability of that post too! Sigh. Insecurity remains my constant companion…

Excited…about attending the Together for the Gospel Women’s Conference later this month!

Enjoying…working through this study on the Sermon on the Mount. I’m only one week in but so far, so good.

Transitioning…slowly into the summertime lifestyle. I’m afraid I’m not a very good summertime mom, not for tweenagers anyway, but we’re getting used to the slower pace of our summer schedule.

Happy June, friends! May you enjoy the simplicity of a summer full of the blessings of family and fun!

  1. My son just put the deposit down on his dorm room at university. He's picking out his classes already! I'm almost an empty nester …. uncharted territory. We'll commiserate in September.

  2. I'm not a very good summertime mom, either. I need to set some kind of schedule, I'm seeing now that we're a couple of weeks into summer. As you know, I too struggle with insecurity – in blogging and elsewhere. Glad you're still here, friend. Praying the transition to college will be a smooth one for your boy (and for his parents and brothers, too). I'm still reeling from the fact that we'll have two in middle school next year. This whole mother of tweens is harder than I expected it to be. Thankful, so very thankful, for God's grace.

  3. Removing wallpaper is one of my least favorite things ever. So much so, in fact, that I refuse to use any wallpaper or borders any more. I'm strictly a paint girl. (And I don't do much of that, either!) I don't think I'm a very good summertime mom, either. I was just thinking that I should sit down with the boys and talk about what "a good summer" would look like for them and then try to make some kind of plan from there… I don't think they'd go for "Spend every day sipping coffee and reading books" as the primary plan. 🙂

  4. I used to love wallpaper until I had to remove several rooms worth of it. Never again! I hope the paint doesn't make your border a whole lot more difficult! Happy June to you, too, Lisa!
