Friday’s Fave Five

Joining Susanne in her celebration of five favorites of the week! My favorites:

1. Rejoicing with my dear friend in the healthy arrival of twins! My friend and her husband struggled with infertility and the various treatments thereof, suffering disappointment after disappointment for many, many months before, finally, the Lord blessed her with not one but two precious boys. Through the whole process my friend knew her hope lay in Christ, whether the Lord granted her desire for children or not. Their arrival was early and somewhat unexpected but so far everyone, Mom and babies both, are well. I am thankful for the Lord’s faithful provision. To God be the glory!

2. The snow that wasn’t quite. A dusting is all, but here down South we enjoy it just the same.

3. Going to the grocery store on Tuesday, well before the “snow rush.” It was my usual weekly trip and I was glad to have it out of the way before every other resident of my county madly bought up all the milk and bread to be had. You think I kid.

4. A two day school week. I told y’all I was dreading the return to the races and I was. I said I needed a couple more days to recover and I did. Evidently I got what I wanted! We’ve been lazy, a little stir crazy, and not at all as productive as we (I) probably should be. Oh, well. How many snow days do we get after all?

5. My new rain boots. Y’all know I was a little ambivalent at first, unsure of the protocol involved. I wore them on a rainy day a few weeks ago with my purchased-for-this-express-purpose skinny jeans tucked in (if ever I wear the skinny jeans apart from boots, please, kindly take me aside and order me home–STAT). I wore them again today to run various errands and the ensuing warmth removed all ambivalence ((they are WARM!!). I love them.

What are your favorites from this week? Link up at Susanne’s and let us know!

  1. That’s wonderful about the twins…my kids are suffering through the infertility process. It really is funny to go to the grocery store before a forcast of a weather event!! Batteries are another huge item that goes…
It’s great to have the right shoes :0)
    Have a great weekend…

  2. Something I thought I’d never read here: a post mentioning skinny jeans and boots. Since you’re wearing them for warmth and function rather than fashion, I won’t hold it against you. :0P

I was really happy to have a couple of extra days to mentally prepare for “back to real life.” It’s hard starting back to school after the holidays. Also kind of glad that we didn’t have a blizzard.

  3. =D HA on the rain boots. Glad you like them. I had wanted some for forever, finally bought them, decided I didn’t like them so much, and they’ve been relegated as porch decoration every since. You think *I* kid?

I remember living in the south and experiencing the shopping rushes whenever bad weather was supposedly heading our way. Only most of the time that was in conjunction with the looming threat of a hurricane. I’d have preferred the threat of snow, I think!

  4. I am so with you on this snow business. I had to go to the grocery store on Wednesday anyway, and it was so crowded. What snow we got was pretty, but didn’t quite meet the predictions, huh? Oh well. Even though we homeschool, I tried to get a couple of snow days out of it, but my daughter didn’t want to! So she did enough schoolwork to call it a day, and then played anyway. I think she was thinking ahead to finishing up the school year earlier in the spring when it’s warmer. Fine with me.

So I’m assuming you didn’t make it into my neck of the woods this Thursday. I still want us to meet up when we can. My schedule is anything but normal lately with my dad’s situation, but who knows when we might could bump into each other?

  5. Like Ellen’s kids, my dd and sil are struggling with infertility too. Your friends’ double blessing is so encouraging! And there are two new little men in the making growing up to become great husbands and fathers!

I’m glad you got your little extra break! I remember the shopping rushes in Oregon just before the ice storms.

    Have a happy weekend!

  6. I’ve been thinking about getting some rain boots, I just have not found the right ones. I remember the “snow rush” from when we lived back east. You have to get your groceries when you can!

  7. LOL. You folks down south always give me a chuckle with your grocery rushes for a sprinkling of snow. :v)

What exciting news for your friend! Congratulations to her and her husband!

Now rainboots is something I do not own. You make them sound very inviting though.

  8. I bought some new rainboots with my Christmas money and I love them! I have only worn them once but can’t wait for another chance to put them on. Not yet brave enough for “skinny jeans” but working on that issue too!
