What’s On My Nightstand–May

What's On Your Nightstand

It’s that time again, where readers post what they’re reading and link up over at 5 Minutes for Books.

I am currently reading…

The Count of Monte Cristo –nearly halfway through the over 1200 pages! Loving it!

How Do I Love Thee?–a novelization of the love story between Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Robert Browning by Nancy Moser, the author of Just Jane which I loved. Watch for a giveaway as part of 5 Minutes for Books Summer Fun Giveaway!

Get Outta My Face!–how to deal with angry teens; great for parents, teachers and youth leaders.

Comforts from the Cross–subtitled Celebrating the Gospel One Day at a Time. Wonderful.

Reading next (perhaps)…

The Disappearance of God, by Al Mohler

Finding an Unseen God, by Alicia Britt Chole

A Shelter in the Time of Storm by Paul David Tripp

Finally Alive by John Piper

Words Unspoken by Elizabeth Musser (fiction)

  1. I think I need to read the one about angry teens. I think I’ve got an angry preteen around here and I’m becoming a little concerned.I want to read the Al Mohler book, too – I need to add that one to my list. My list is growing. Maybe I need to write it down now.

  2. I’d love to read The Count of Monte Cristo — I enjoyed the movie. And Finally Alive is on my list, too.

  3. I have the Mohler book on my nightstand, too. I also have How Do I Love Thee on my list to request from the library.

  4. Whew! The linky’s up.I put everyone in.So–loving Monte Cristo, huh? I’m not sure that people would forgive us for doing another 1000+ page classic, but maybe if they have a few months to read it??

  5. I’m impressed with Monte Cristo. 🙂 Maybe one day I’ll venture that far…Let us know how you like “Finally Alive” when you read it. I want to read that one, too.

  6. I just finished Elizabeth Berg’s latest, “Home Safe.” Loved it (as I do every EB book).I’m doing my summertime run through of the Kick Keswick series by Marne Davis Kellogg: “Brilliant,” “Priceless,” “Perfect,” and “Friends in High Places.” This is NOT Christian fiction. Just good mystery/fiction about an intriguing woman who is also a jewel thief. These books are so much fun that I read them every summer. On the more serious side, I’m also reading “Grace Based Parenting” which I’m enjoying a lot.
