I knew I should have known better

After much resistance and downright defiance, I caved and decided to delve into the whole Following deal that blogger offers. Of course it has nothing to do with the fact that my “Follower” numbers (finally) reached a respectable level, meaning of course double digits as opposed to single.

Ever one to return a favor, I thought I’d do some following of my own. So I began to go through my list of blog friends located conveniently enough in my google reader, copying and pasting their web locations to the “Blogs I Follow” list.

Except google reader is smarter than me and while I was naming blogs to follow, google added them in my reader under a new folder. So now I have some blogs in my reader twice, some once, some in the old list, some in the new folder and too late I remember I never really wanted to follow the follower craze.

I knew I should have known better.

Can anyone help a sister out? Do I just un-follow everyone I chose to follow? But won’t that delete them from my reader? Anyone else as confused as I?

  1. Lisa,Can I just be the first to shout out a big, “Yippeeskippee!” over here?I have been MIA from visiting everyone for awhile, but when I do, I use my google friends thingamajig on my dashboard. So, whoever I follow, I get their updates immediately. I LOVE IT. So happy I can finally follow along with you. And, as you can tell by my highly expert computer jargon (thingamajig etc.) I will not be the one helping you figure things out.Blessings friend,Joanne

  2. Hmm, well, welcome to the club! And not having that problem, I’m not sure how to help. I had a difficult time trying to figureout how to de-follow myself from my own blog! I mean, I’m a fan and all that but still. It seemed a little pretentious!

  3. Oh, I need to know if you figure this out, because I have the same exact problem, and it bothers me to no end. Basically, I just ignore the followers folder in my google account, but still have all the same blogs in the appropriate folders that I created, and I just read them there. For whatever technical reason, once I read them in their other folders, the new messages also disappear from the following folder as well. But yes, this is a major kink in the followers/Google reader combo!

  4. Seriously, I wish I could help you out, but when it comes to that kind of stuff I usually have to mess it up to get it right…it is SO frustrating…Ha!BUT…glad to hear you have the followers up so I can NOW join in on your fun more often!Melissa

  5. i’ve seen the “followers” thing on some blogs, but haven’t looked into it too much. i do use google reader, but i blog with typepad so i just haven’t taken the time to look into it more.
