Yesterday the Grinch, today Martha Stewart

Okay, not really. But, I will say that after having (finally!) removed the autumnal decorations and putting a festive tablecloth on my dining room table, I am feeling some better about the whole Christmas deal. That being said, the tree is still in storage and the shopping is still undone, and will remain so for an indefinite amount of time.

Sigh.

Baby steps, one. teensy. tiny. step. at. a. time.

Last night I enjoyed an evening of great food, great fun and even greater fellowship with my church girlfriends. We laughed, we ate, we exchanged gifts, we pondered the Incarnation. I am so very thankful for these, my sisters in this leap journey of faith. Christmas is, and has become, many things, but truly an evening among friends celebrating Emmanuel, our God coming near–that’s part of the good stuff of Christmas. And to my friends: know I am grateful for each of you and for the bond we share as friends and sisters in Christ!

One of my friends said to me today that she may have detected the slightest hint of Christmas spirit in my voice…

Perhaps miracles never cease.

And now I will go shop and I just might even listen to some Christmas tunes…

  1. Oh girl, I love you. I tried ever so hard not to let the Grinchiness catch me this year, but alas, I have succumbed. No matter how early I start, I always end up feeling overwhelmed and behind. I am so glad you had an evening enjoying what Christmas is supposed to be about. Christ, and love.

  2. What IS it about Christmas this year? It took me a while to get my tree put up (just this week). And then, I looked at the calendar today, and Christmas is exactly 2 WEEKS AWAY!! WHAT?!! I thought Christmas was supposed to take forever to get here. At least it did when I was a little girl. Oh well, it will be here before we know it, might as well prepare for it. 🙂
