What’s On Your Nightstand?

What's On Your Nightstand

Over at 5 Minutes for Books, we want to know: What’s on your nightstand? Or, as our managing editor Jennifer put it:

Tell us what you’re planning to read this month, what you just finished, and/or what you’re right in the middle of. If you’d like to include the whys and wherefores of how that book came to be on your nightstand, that’s even better.

Well, for me, I don’t do much reading in the bed, so my nightstand contains an alarm clock, a phone and a few picture frames. Which isn’t exactly the point of the carnival. So, in keeping with the “spirit” of the carnival…

What I’m Reading Now:
Calvinism: A Southern Baptist Dialogue
The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment

What I Just Finished:
Rebecca (Oh. Wow. WONDERFUL!)
Saturdays with Stella (watch for an upcoming review over at 5 Minutes for Books)

What I Plan to Read Next:
Hmmmm….not real sure. It’s not like I don’t have any “To Be Read” titles lying (laying?) around. Perhaps In Christ Alone by Sinclair Ferguson or The Gospel According to Jesus by John MacArthur or The Reason for God by Timothy Keller (all titles I recently picked up at a local “variety store” for $6 each!). I also picked up Adam by Ted Dekker for $4, but I’m a little nervous about reading it. Though I absolutely loved the Circle trilogy, my last Dekker read was, well, weird.

Those are just my most recent additions to the ever growing “To Be Read” pile! I certainly have other titles (just a few, really…okay, just slightly more than a few) to choose from…

So, what are YOU reading this month? Head on over to 5 Minutes for Books and let us all know! Plus, you can make the rounds and find out what others are reading as well!

  1. Great post, thanks for sharing what you are reading. Guess I’ll have to look into Rebecca. (My list just keeps growing lol!)

  2. I, also, LOVED Rebecca. I watched the original version of the movie with a son – he had to watch it as part of a project; and I thoroughly enjoyed it, as well. Son? Not so much. Not enough raw adventure for him.I will hopefully try my hand at “What’s On Your Nightstand,” but it will challenge my bloggy-ness, figuring out how to link to another site, etc.

  3. What do you think of the Challies book so far?I really liked Rebecca too. It took me a while to get into it, but then I loved it.

  4. I have Rebecca waiting TBR as well, but it hasn’t made it on the immediate list yet.I’m enjoying Saturdays with Stella. I’m not even sure who sent it to me LOL, but I’ll put a review on my blog sometime.

  5. Hmm thinking I might look into taking Rebecca with me to the beach.. looking forward to reading your review on Saturdays with Stella.

  6. Have you ever heard of goodreads.com? It’s a great resource for sharing/keeping track of what’s been “read,” “currently reading,” and “to read.” I like it!

  7. I have one of those “to be read” piles/shelves to choose from, too. And I just keep adding to it. I’ve never read Dekker. I’m too scared. Are you going to review the Calvinism book? I’d love to know if you do. I haven’t heard of it. I’m going to google it and see what I can find. Thanks for sharing.~ Kayren
