Status Report, June

Sitting…on my back porch.

Drinking…coffee, black, though it’s grown cold in the cup as I’ve been a little distracted working on a post for Out of the Ordinary and an article for my church’s newsletter.

Writing…Yeah, really. I’m as surprised as anyone.

Enjoying…the hummingbirds at my feeder. I don’t usually have this many this early in the summer!

Recovering, still…from my son’s graduation a couple of weeks ago. It was a great time of celebration with family and friends and I can’t quite get over it! I am so proud of my boy. I tried to write more about it, really I did. I even have a couple of draft posts but they are each only a few lines long. My heart is full and I find the fuller my heart, the fewer my words.

Transitioning…to a summer way of life, slow and easy. Or so it should be.

Traveling…quite a bit this month. Later this week my husband and I will accompany our new graduate to his college orientation. We also have plans for the family to tag along on my husband’s business trip to North Carolina and I am super excited about the Gospel Coalition’s Women’s Conference later this month!

Hoping…to get some good reading under my belt this summer! I checked out a stack of books from the library in my never ending quest for that elusive can’t-put-down good fiction read. If you have any recommendations that fit that category, send them my way! I have a stack of non fiction I have high hopes and eager expectation of wading through as well.

Reading…in the Old Testament prophets at this point in my read-the-Bible-through-in-a-year plan and thinking of my Bible study group and all that we learned this past year. What an amazing year of Bible study. God was so good to us! I miss my Bible study girlfriends this summer!

Needing…to get up from the computer and get busy. Laundry to fold, errands to run, groceries to buy, you know, that slow and easy summer way of life…Ha!

Happy June, friends!

  1. Such a handsome young man. Congrats to him and you! If you enjoy murder mysteries I’ve been reading and enjoying the Chief Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny. The first book is called Still Life. She is a good writer.

  2. Congratulations to your son on his graduation! Bittersweet when they hit that point. Sigh. Books, books, books. I have sooo many I want to get to! I really novels by Charles Martin. Loved “Not in the Heart” and “Borders of the Heart” by Chris Fabry. “One Summer” by David Baldacci I really enjoyed too. “The Aviator’s Wife” by Melanie Benjamin was really good and based on the life of Anne Morrow Lindbergh. “The Kitchen Boy” and “The Romanov Bride” by Robert Alexander are really good stories based on Russian history. Anyway, need to stop or I will go on forever!! ;)
